HOW DO I LOCATE A SMALL PUNCTURE IN MY THERM-A-REST?

　　1. Inflate the Therm-a-Rest mattress by mouth as hard as possible, then quickly close the valve.

　　2. Then fold the Therm-a-Rest mattress in half or thirds and apply body weight, such as by kneeling. (This will dramatically increase the internal air pressure.)

　　3. Wet the mattress with water or a mild detergent solution (409 cleaner works well because it does not leave a soapy residue). Small, escaping bubbles will indicate the puncture.

　　1. With a mild detergent, wash the area around the puncture. Rinse and dry thoroughly.

　　2. Deflate the mattress by rolling; close the valve. (With air out of the Therm-a-Rest, the mattress is now drawing air into the pad via the puncture.)

　　3. Work a drop of adhesive from any (non thermoset) urethane based adhesive into the puncture. With the mattress deflated, the adhesive will be drawn into the puncture and seal it off.

　　5. TEST YOUR WORK! Easy way is to roll up mattress and close the valve. Set the rolled-up Therm-a-Rest on a flat surface and leave it for 24 hours. (If it unrolls during this time period, clearly you have another leak.)

　　1. Do not expose mattress to flame or sparks.

　　2. Do not use mattress under hot pans. Extreme temperatures can damage the fabric, the foam, and the bond.

　　DOES BLOWING AIR INTO THE THERM-A-REST AFFECT THE MATTRESS IN COLD WEATHER OR HIGH ALTITUDES?

　　It actually helps; by adding air into the mattress, you can increase the thermal value. In extreme temperatures, the inflation rate will decrease a little bit. Prolonged breath inflation over several weeks may cause some moisture to build up.

　　HOW CAN I CLEAN MY MATTRESS?

　　Soap, water, and a soft bristle brush work the best. For tough stains, CitraSolv (citrus-based degreaser) can be applied to mattresses. After washing the mattress, leave it inflated and let dry before storing.
